Closely covering the charms of Tokushima Airport

"Tokushima Airport", which moved to its current terminal in 2010, serves as a gateway to the skies, planes come and go from Japan and abroad.

It would be a waste to use such an airport simply as a means of transportation! In fact, the charms of Tokushima Prefecture, including the “Awa Odori” dance, are scattered throughout the city.

This time, we will introduce you to the charm of "Tokushima Airport", along with a guide from "Matsushige Chief", the mascot character of Matsushige Town, where the airport is located.

First, head to the main entrance

At the main entrance of the airport terminal building, there is a bronze statue of Awa Odori, the №1popular photo spot at the airport.
And there is a photo of a dynamic whirlpool in the background!
If you pose with the dancers who seem like they're about to start moving, you can take a commemorative photo that will become a memory of your trip.

The open-air lobby with a stairwell

Tokushima Airport is a three-story building. The arrival lobby on the first floor has an open-air structure that extends all the way to the top floor. In addition, the entire building is made of glass, giving it a very open feel.
In this space, there is a parking area on the runway side at the front of the building, and when you turn around, a large display measuring approximately 4.6m x 2.6m catches your eye.
As the airport's name suggests, you'll be greeted with a dynamic Awa Odori dance on a large screen, so impressive that you can't help but be captivated.

We also performed the "Awa Odori" dance to see you off!

Enjoy the unique Tokushima atmosphere even at the end of your trip.
The departure lobby is decorated with a stained-glass piece called "ZOMEKI - Eternal Two Beats", created and supervised by Keiko Takemiya, a manga artist from Tokushima Prefecture.
From their lively expressions, you can almost hear the double beat of Awa Odori dance, and they must be feeling nostalgic and wanting to come back to Tokushima again.

Don't forget to bring souvenirs

By the way, did you all get your souvenirs?
Whether it's sweets, local sake, or Tokushima ramen, you won't be able to decide what to choose until the very last moment before boarding.
You can also purchase Matsushige Chief 's goods at the airport!

The next time you visit Tokushima Airport, please feel the charm of “Tokushima Service” in every corner of the airport! !
